SCAMP
The South Carolina Alliance for Minority participation Program is a member of the National Louis Stokes Alliance for Minority Participation which is sponsored by the National Science Foundation. The goal of the Alliance is to increase the number of bachelor degrees awarded to minorities in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). SCAMP is designed to remove the barriers that prevent full participation by minority individuals in STEM fields. The SCAMP Program also has a special emphasis on facilitating entry to graduate schools.
The Benedict College SCAMP Program consists of the various programs:
- Academic Year Research
- Summer Research/Internships
- Preparation for Professional/Graduate School Entrance Exams
- Tutorials
- Assistance with applications for Summer Opportunities as well as graduate/professional schools
- Tours of graduate/professional schools
- Scholarship Program with Service Learning Component
- Assistance with Job Search and Application
- Recruitment Visits from School/Job Representatives
- Academic/Career Counseling
- Student Development Seminars/Workshops (Resume Writing, Interview Skills, etc.)
- Summer Bridge Program - SCAMP Summer Research Enrichment Program is a residential summer bridge program designed to expose students to college level laboratory/research experiences in the STEM areas, strengthen students' academic and professional reparation for STEM careers and prepare students for the College Placement Exams
